You spend a lot of time crafting your online marketing and direct mail campaigns. But there’s something to be said about spontaneous saleability. So we’re going to say a few words about that with a signage perspective!
Spring is in the air, and in many a customer’s step. After a long winter folks are eager to get outside and walk on their own 2 feet without fear of frostbite or icy walkways. Take full advantage of this renewed sense of adventure by ensuring your outdoor signage is in top form, from your building sign to your current promotional material. In order to succeed you have to grab the attention of walkers in less than 10 seconds, keep it, and entice them to direct their stroll inside your store.
Start with your building sign: You should evaluate your permanent outdoor signage in spring no matter what. Look for damage caused by snow, ice, and wind as well as sun-bleached colours. Also consider visibility: Is your sign easy to find and quick to read? Does it immediately convey what customers will find inside? Does it stand out from the crowd? If you answered “No!” to any of those questions, come on down to Grand River Sign Design to craft a sign that will have you answer an enthusiastic “Absolutely!” for many seasons to come.
Next evaluate your window signage: Customers out on a walk need to be able to tell immediately if you’re open for business. This bright sun we’re all excited to see can alter vision to the point where passersby can’t tell that your lights are on. Make sure your open/closed sign is highly visible, that your hours are posted, and throw in your website address too, just in case they walk along after hours. Now is a great time to consider adding a little signage to your windows semi-permanently.
Perforated window prints, etched glass, posters, and hanging banner signage really grab attention from the sidewalk, especially if your building sign is situated to be seen best from a vehicle.
Finally, consider roadside signage: Really stand out to foot traffic by placing signage near the walkway. It can be as simple as banner signs with your business name, logo, and tagline, or a specific promotion. Design the campaign to entice walkers to walk on with timed offers, or maybe a free cup of lemonade as a respite.
When you’re focusing on foot traffic, just as with road traffic you want to focus on getting your message out loud and clear and quickly. With foot traffic you have the advantage of providing a slightly longer message since it’s not a big deal to stop and read, but you still need to be concise. Even if they don’t stop in today, you want these potential customers to think of you the next time they need your products and services.
